In 1902 engineer Edouard Hannon (1853-1931) called upon his friend, the architect Jules Brunfaut (1852-1942) to build this mansion, a masterpiece in the Art Nouveau style with furniture designed by Emile Gallé.
The frescoes from the stairwell and the smoking room are the work of painter Paul-Emile Baudouin. The remarkable stained-glass windows are by Evaldre, who studied atTiffany's.
At the present time, the building, which is the property of the town of Saint-Gilles, is occupied by the Contretype Photographic space which is devoted to the promotion of creative photography and organises regular exhibitions.
Don't miss this great opportunity to admire a lush Liberty building with cutting-edge photography!
